Mushroom Supplements:
7 Mushroom Complex Capsules or Blend Powder?
Seven mushrooms. Two everyday formats.
A clearer look at what each serving contains.
· 13 min read

Seven mushrooms with seven very different stories share this pouch. Reishi was first described from an English specimen, and its Latin name, lucidum, means shiny, for its varnished cap 2; chaga grows on the trunks of living birches 3; maitake is known as hen of the woods 4; and shiitake got its first scientific name in 1877, from a specimen bought in a shop in Japan 5. Add lion’s mane, white fungus and cordyceps sinensis, and the number that brings all seven together on the front of our capsule pouch is 1,575mg. It is the weight of the blend itself, 225mg of each mushroom in three capsules, not a mushroom equivalent like the 18,750mg on our 8 Mushroom Complex 9.
Choosing a mushroom supplement can feel overwhelming, because capsules, powders and complexes print different amounts, ratios and headline figures. This guide shows you what 1,575mg, 225mg and a quarter teaspoon mean on our four labels, and helps you choose the one that fits your daily routine.
7 mushroom complex at a glance
- What it is: seven certified organic mushrooms (reishi, cordyceps sinensis, lion’s mane, white fungus, maitake, shiitake and chaga), blended as vegan capsules or a powder 9.
- Capsules: three give 1,575mg, 225mg of each mushroom, for about 30p a serving, or 25p from the 180 pouch.
- Powder: a quarter teaspoon (1g) gives 1,000mg, with 200mg each of reishi, cordyceps sinensis and lion’s mane and 100mg of each of the other four, for about 9p a serving, or 6p from the 250g pouch.
- Who it suits: you, if you’d like several mushrooms in one daily product and want to see the amount of each one printed on the panel.

7 mushroom capsules or mushroom blend powder: which is right for you?
Same seven mushrooms, two forms: three capsules give 1,575mg, and a quarter teaspoon of powder gives 1,000mg. The right one depends on how you like to take it, and how many servings you want from a pouch.
THE CAPSULE BLEND
7 mushroom complex capsules: three a day, nothing to taste
Would you rather not taste it at all? Our Organic Seven Mushroom Complex gives 225mg of each of the seven in three vegan capsules, 1,575mg in all, 30 servings for £8.99 9. Once it’s part of your day, the 180-capsule pouch brings a serving down from about 30p to 25p.
THE LOOSE POWDER
7 mushroom blend powder: a quarter teaspoon in a drink
Already making a shake or a smoothie most mornings? Our Organic 7 Mushroom Blend Powder holds the same seven, loose in the pouch: a quarter teaspoon (1g) gives 1,000mg, 100 servings for £8.99, about 9p each 9. The 250g pouch gives 250 servings for £15.99, about 6p a serving.
7 mushroom blend or 8 mushroom complex?
Weighing up seven against eight? Our 8 Mushroom Complex swaps white fungus for button and oyster mushrooms and uses extracts: two capsules hold 150mg of each of eight extracts, which the panel counts as 18,750mg, with 405mg of polysaccharides, 45 servings for £8.99 9. Choose the seven if you want a blend of certified organic mushrooms; choose the eight if you want concentrated extracts and a polysaccharide figure on the panel.
Mushroom complex or a single mushroom supplement?
Want more of one mushroom in particular? Our single mushroom capsules each give one of the seven as an extract: Organic Lion’s Mane holds 1,400mg of a 20:1 extract in two capsules, while Organic Reishi, Organic Cordyceps, Organic Shiitake and Organic Chaga print 7,500mg for one capsule of 20:1 or 15:1 extract 9. There are organic powders of reishi, cordyceps, chaga and lion’s mane too, as well as reishi drops and lion’s mane drops, and our reishi guide and chaga guide decode their labels.
If you want maitake or white fungus, you’ll find them only in our blends, and white fungus only in the seven. That makes our seven mushroom blend, as capsules or powder, the way to have all seven in one serving.
All four pouches sit in our 7 Mushroom range, beside the single mushrooms in our wider mushroom range and the rest of our herbs, and the powder is also among our herbal powders.
02 / READ THE LABEL
7 mushroom complex 1575mg: what the numbers on the label mean
The 1,575mg on the front of the capsule pouch is the whole blend in one serving of three capsules: seven lines of 225mg on the panel, one for each mushroom 9. The panel names no extract ratio, so this is the weight of the blend you take, 525mg in each capsule.

How the mushroom blend powder splits 200mg and 100mg
A quarter teaspoon (1g) of the powder holds the same seven in a different split: 200mg each of reishi, cordyceps sinensis and lion’s mane, and 100mg each of white fungus, maitake, shiitake and chaga 9. So three capsules give you more of every mushroom than one serving of powder, while the powder gives you more servings for the money.
1,575mg or 18,750mg: reading two mushroom complex labels
Our 8 Mushroom Complex prints 18,750mg because it counts the mushroom that went into each extract, concentrated 10, 15 or 30 times, and two capsules hold 1,200mg of those extracts 9. The seven prints the weight of its blend, so both numbers are right; they simply count different things. On both panels, two asterisks stand where a percentage would be, because no Nutrient Reference Value exists for these mushrooms.

04 / MEET THE SEVEN
What is in a 7 mushroom blend? The seven, one by one
Here they are in the order the panel lists them, all seven certified organic.
- Reishi, Ganoderma lucidum: a large, dark mushroom with a glossy, red, kidney-shaped cap and a woody texture, found on the bases and stumps of trees such as oak, maple and elm; it is called lingzhi in China, reishi in Japan and mannentake in Korea 2.
- Cordyceps sinensis: now named Ophiocordyceps sinensis, and also called Chinese cordyceps; the wild fungus grows 3,000 to 5,000m up around the Tibetan Plateau, where it has become scarce, so cordyceps is now cultivated 7.
- Lion’s mane, Hericium erinaceus: it grows from wound scars on trees and from freshly fallen hardwood, mostly oak, with thin tendrils growing from a white, rubbery centre 8.
- White fungus, Tremella fuciformis: known as snow fungus, and as white fungus or silver fungus in China, it forms clusters of flat, flaky or wavy leaflets 6.
- Maitake, Grifola frondosa: known in English as hen of the woods; in Japanese, mai means dance and take means mushroom, and it grows around the stumps of broadleaf trees 4.
- Shiitake, Lentinula edodes: in the wild it grows on fallen broadleaf logs, mainly of the beech family, and today most of it is cultivated on logs filled with sawdust 5.
- Chaga, Inonotus obliquus: it grows on the trunks of living birches in humid parts of Europe, Asia and North America; its name comes from Komi-Permyak, a language spoken west of the Ural Mountains, and in England it is called the birch’s sterile conk 3.
Organic mushroom blend: what the leaf on the pouch tells you
Every one of the seven is printed on the panel as organic, and each pouch front carries the EU organic leaf with a code, SK-BIO-003 on the capsule pouches 9. The code names the organic control body that certified the product, and the words Non-EU Agriculture under it tell you the mushrooms were grown outside the EU.
05 / KEEP IT SIMPLE
How to take a mushroom complex supplement
One labelled serving a day
Each label sets one serving a day: three capsules with water, or a quarter teaspoon (1g) of powder mixed into 150ml of water, juice, a shake or a smoothie 9. The powder pouch comes without a scoop, to cut plastic waste, so an ordinary quarter teaspoon is your measure.
A cool, dry place
Store both in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. The capsules and the powder are made for adults: the labels say they aren’t intended for children, or for pregnant or breastfeeding women 9.
A SIMPLE DAILY ROUTINE
Seven mushrooms, one measured serving
If three capsules a day, with nothing to taste, fit your routine, our Organic Seven Mushroom Complex is the straightforward choice. The 90-capsule pouch gives you a 30 day supply for £8.99, and the 180-capsule pouch brings a day down to about 25p.

Mushroom supplement FAQs
What are mushroom supplements good for?
Because no health claim for reishi, cordyceps sinensis, lion’s mane, white fungus, maitake, shiitake or chaga is authorised in the UK, we focus on what the label shows 1. Three of our capsules give 1,575mg of seven certified organic mushrooms, 225mg of each, and a quarter teaspoon of the powder gives 1,000mg.
What mushrooms are in the 7 mushroom blend?
Reishi, cordyceps sinensis, lion’s mane, white fungus, maitake, shiitake and chaga, in that order on the panel, each one organic 9. The capsules hold 225mg of every one; the powder holds 200mg of the first three and 100mg of the other four.
Is 1,575mg the real amount in the 7 mushroom capsules?
Yes. The panel names no extract ratio, so 1,575mg is the weight of the organic mushroom blend in three capsules, 525mg in each 9. Our 8 Mushroom Complex and our single mushroom capsules are the ones made from extracts, and their panels print the ratio beside each mushroom.
Are the 7 mushroom capsules and powder vegan and organic?
Mushroom powder or capsules: which is better value?
Per gram of blend, the powder: about 9p a gram in the 100g pouch and 6p in the 250g, against about 19p and 16p a gram in the capsule pouches. The capsules give you more in each serving, 1,575mg against 1,000mg, measured for you and with nothing to taste.
Can I take a mushroom complex every day?
Yes, that is how our labels are written: three capsules daily with water, or a quarter teaspoon of powder a day 9. The 90-capsule pouch lasts 30 days and the 180 pouch 60 days, as the fronts print, while the powder gives 100 or 250 servings.
THE BOTTOM LINE
So, 7 mushroom capsules or powder?
The right 7 mushroom blend is the one that fits your day: for 225mg of each mushroom with nothing to taste, choose the Organic Seven Mushroom Complex capsules, about 30p a serving or 25p in the 180 pouch. For the same seven in a drink at about 9p a serving, or 6p from the 250g pouch, choose the Organic 7 Mushroom Blend Powder. Either way, you now know that 1,575mg in three capsules and 1,000mg in a quarter teaspoon are the weights you actually take.
