Alpha01 Organic Reishi Extract is a 100g pouch of powder made from the reishi mushroom, Ganoderma lucidum, and its front prints 15:1 extract and 50% polysaccharides beside the EU organic logo. A serving is a quarter teaspoon (1g), and the nutrition panel declares 15,000mg of organic reishi mushroom from a 15:1 extract, providing 500mg of polysaccharides. The ingredients list has a single line: organic reishi mushroom 15:1 extract (50% polysaccharides).
The 15:1 ratio simply means that 15 parts of mushroom were reduced to 1 part of extract, so your 1g stands for 15,000mg of mushroom, and half of that 1g is polysaccharides, the 500mg on the panel. Because no Nutrient Reference Value has been set for reishi, you won’t see a percentage beside it. Our guide, Organic Reishi Mushroom Powder: What It Is and How to Use It, explains what reishi is, what each number on the label means and how to use every format.
Stir your quarter teaspoon into 150ml of water, juice, a shake or a smoothie once a day, as the label directs. To help reduce plastic waste we’ve left out the scoop, so a kitchen quarter teaspoon measures it, and the 100g pouch gives 100 servings for £8.99, about 9p a day; store it in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. If you would rather not taste reishi, our Organic Reishi Mushroom Extract capsules are one a day.
